This is such fantastic reporting and analysis, Michael -- over-the-top in every way (You're a numbers guy, you tell me: Is there a category for... "grades out at over 100%"?)
It is so sad, so distressing, so painful, to recognize that we, as a country, are surely the bad actors on the world stage right now!
It’s like a daily grind of “just when you think things can’t get any worse, despicable, immoral…” This is such a great post, deeply researched, sobering and distressing. Yours is a truly investigative journalism; sadly, a dying art these days. Thank you for continuing to shine the light!!
Incredible, isn't it? The money policy makers are making on prediction markets is coming from others on the prediction markets. Anyone without inside info who puts their money at risk in an arena where others do have inside info is incredibly gullible; do they not understand what they're doing when they post up money? They must not!
Of course, the real money isn't being made on Polymarket. $10,000, or even $100,000, is chump change compared to the profits being made by defense contractors.
From a website:
Each PAC-3 MSE interceptor costs $7 million.
And we're firing missiles like they're pellets out of a BB gun. War profiteering is as old as war itself, and armies needs armaments. Our defense contractors have been making lucrative profits for decades; long before this particular war broke out. President Ike didn't do much about it while he spent 8 years as Pres, but at least he gave us a clear warning in his farewell address, and we've been ignoring his words for 65 years. His daughter claimed he changed the wording from "Congressional-military-industrial complex" to omit the first word, before delivering his speech, out of fear he'd offend his friends in Congress!
My disgust with our current state of politics in my country I love has reached epic levels. I find myself obsessing about it.

Such a powerful post, Michael, as yours can be counted on to be. As Brad Newsham said, "over the top in every way." Thank you!
