As the photography chair of the conference, I concur with all you say. This will be my 32nd. year and the attendees always provide as much inspiration to me as I hope we do to them. I can't wait. One minor comment. The '53 Everest team did not exactly train at the Pen-y-Gwryd, unless drinking can be considered part of the training!
Yes, they stayed there and held all their meetings at the Pen-y-Gwryd. A lot of the climbing training was around Tryfan and in the Glyderau range. This was my hood! On my first Himalayan expedition in 1967 (Yes, I'm that old!!) all our high altitude suits were made from the leftover fabric from the 53 expedition, a new windproof material called Ventile.
